So, is there really a Xero Santa Claus? Well I hope so because I've just started to compile my Xero Christmas Wish List (hope I'm not to late).

Here are a few items on my list:

More integration with apps through APIs
The ability to create customized invoices
The ability to create more customized reports
Improved dashboard features

How's that for starters?

Feel free to jump in and add your list.

My impression is that Xero will be concentrating on integrations in 2010, feeling that the core accounting feature set is fairly complete, so I expect that you will get the first present on your list.

Ditto your second item, Rod Drury confirmed this in his response to my post on the Xero blog, reproduced here, although my guess is that we will not get full invoice customisation.

As for customised reports, I am fairly happy with the "canned" reports we already have, given that there is always the option to export to Excel for further analysis. What do you have in mind for the dashboard? User configurable KPI's?

Here is the list that I have just sent up the chimney:

- integration with Microsoft Office Web Apps [as with GoogleDocs now]
- sales and purchase order processing [as an option, rather than included by default]
- online filing of VAT returns
- more automatic UK bank feeds
- checking of purchase invoice references at data entry to prevent duplication of invoices
- quotes / estimates which can then be converted to invoices
- default nominal codes for suppliers - so purchase invoices get coded consistently

Santa needs to get busy!
I would really like to see an option to export all data, or backup to an external server or something similar to these.

The boss has already stated that there is no way on earth that we will use Xero until it has this ability, and I would really like to move to xero, as then we can get rid of the damn MYOB accounting servers that we're using.

The ability to have Xero automatically export to a secure ftp server or something similar at a set interval would be awesome, though even a manual export / backup would certainly help.
Travis, there are some ways to export your data manually out of Xero. You can export reports - http://help.xero.com/#ImportExport$Reports or GL transactions - http://help.xero.com/#Report_ExportGL. However, not sure if this is adequate for your requirements.
An option to enter month end accruals & prepayments which automatically reverse in the following month.
Great idea, Stuart. Guess for now, we'll have to depend on draft journal entries to do the trick.
Ok Christmas has gone - but I would love to see a mileage allowance claim section within Expenses to help clients log and record their mileage - checking the 10k mileage limit for 40p per mile etc

I would love to see this integration occur. (Votes would be awesome from any other Aussies in the mix)
Integration with a wider range of online shopping carts would be great. There's an integration with Shopify, but it would be nice to have others like Magento, Miva and some Wordpress-based shopping cart systems

+1 for customised invoices

Customised reports (maybe even a dashboard feature) that shows the key metrics that Action business coaches track.

Inventory tracking and stock control (I've heard it's coming)

Integration with a point of sale solution (perhaps with a cloud-based POS solution like ShopKeep)
Btw - Add automatic bank feeds and cheque printing capabilities through "Money Spent" and "Pay Bills" features (for Canada/global version of Xero).
