User Permissions - More control and choices when setting up Xero users please

As owner of my business, I do most of the book keeping entries in Xero. However some of the simple day-to-day processing (like coding reveunue/deposits) in xero is done by our manager on duty.

For the duty manager to be able to have user permission to do this under xero, I effectively have to give them access to practically, all areas, all reports and basically full access to all accounting financial information etc.

How does that help me manage access/security to commercially sensitive information like a detailed profit and loss statements? All reports and data can be viewed and exported by any user!

I find this problem to be very unhelpful. Short sighted user permissions. This should be fixed as a highest priority. So many great features with Xero but this really lets it down

Has anyone else noticed this problem with the user access settings? I brought up the issue with Xero support about 6 months ago and they said it would be looked at but I have not heard anything. Very frustrating/unprofessional in my opinion.

Lets get people talking about this and put some pressure on to get it fixed. You will probably need this feature to work properly sooner or later too.

We should be able to, for example, allow a book keeper or manager on duty to have rights to code the bank statements revenue but not be able to create a P & L reports and export it at the touch of a button. Scary stuff that they can do all of that currently as a standard user.

The short answer is NO. Xero must not consider it is important enough to fix the user/roles/access problem. Very disappointing.

I too are frustrated in this regard. In my case, I want my staff to be able to enter and send invoices without having to expose the entire receivable and payables system.

Ive started a thread on Xero's Feature request forum. Suggest you both chime in there too.

Will do. It is crazy to have users set up as they are currently. Bigger size companies could probably not use xero for this reason too. It is a very limiting/limited feature....I raised the issue with xero over a year ago now, and still not one inch of progress. Just like the automated banks feeds missing in xero personal. One year on and still not activated.
