VEIS is short for the VAT Information Exchange System that has been in operation in the EU for the last 20 years or so. VAT registered EU members trading with other VAT registered EU members do not need to charge VAT on goods/services. However, the seller must collect the VAT numbers of the businesses it is selling to. This information is then submitted to the tax authorities periodically (monthly, quarterly etc.).
The VEIS return states the following:
- VAT number of business seller sold goods/services to
- Name of the business
- Value of the goods/services
- A note indicating whether it was goods or services that was traded

Sage has the ability to produce VEIS reports. I was wondering if Xero would look at this as it would apply to all EU businesses that trade intra-EU.
