The tracking function seems really useful. It appears on the invoice entry screen per line (many accounts packages don't have this function). But then I cannot understand why the developers haven't included it in the fields which are available to use for the customer invoice . I cannot imagine we would be the only users who would find this useful.
Permalink Reply by Catherine (Xero) on November 17, 2011 at 21:43 Hi - this is an interesting point. It is used by most to add a dimension to their reporting in that you can take a look at a report like the P&L by say, region or whatever tracking codes you've set up. Would be keen to hear how you're using tracking that you'd want it to appear on your invoices? You're right, could be useful to others and we'd like to know that too. Thanks!
Thank you Catherine. If you think about it, it can be used as a "parent" product category. Kashflow has this by the way. I won't go into our application, but any inventory system should have at least two tiers of product category. It saves having to make too many inventory items - especially with Xero as, at the moment, you don't have the functionality to archive old inevntory items (I have raised this with support already).
