Anyone using Xero for a pub/restaurant?

Catherine (Xero) replied to Tim Wettone's discussion Recurring journal entries
"Indeed this is among some of the many requests fro accountants - we will get to it but until then, the repeating 0 invoice option suggested above seems to suit some Xero accounting partners."

"A repeating/reversing journal function is a fairly basic function of an Accounting system.  I would imagine that it will be Accountants rather than final users driving this request.  Accountants need this to provide meaningful management…"

"The VAT return is probabaly correct.  The essence of the transaction is that you are being charged a sum plus VAT but being compensated for the non-VAT element. The only other suggestion is to make the second line zero rated for VAT, in which…"

"Could you not enter a purchase invoice with two lines, one with the value that results in the correct VAT amount you wish to reclaim, and the other with the same value (but this time a negative amount) with No VAT?  If the two net amounts are…"

Anyone using Xero for a pub/restaurant?

For a pub/restaurant business, I am presuming one creates a "bank account" to work as a "cash account" to record gross takings (by journal entry?), cash expenses paid and bankings (transfers to the real bank account).  That is fine.  But how does one then reconcile the "cash account" as there may well be differing cash floats/unbanked takings at any given time, so takings less expenses won't always equal an amount banked.  There is also the issue of customers paying by credit card where the…See More
